SIBA Strategy 2021

Our Vision: The United Kingdom will have a vibrant, thriving and sustainable brewing industry. We want consumers to choose, and be able to choose independent beer at a fair price to all.

“Cask is BACK, so back CASK” is a new cross-industry campaign launched on 9th April 2021 by SIBA, CAMRA, BII and Cask Marque to encourage beer drinkers to back British brewing and pubs by opting for a pint of fresh cask beer from a local independent brewery next time they go to pub.

SIBA Beerflex

SIBA Beerflex, the Society’s main commercial venture, is a major success story.

About SIBA BeerFlex – a distribution company
A wholly-owned subsidiary of SIBA, SIBA BeerFlex has grown into a distribution company turning over £12 million per year.

BeerFlex operates “without profit” and ensures that its customers receive the best possible prices, delivered in the freshest, most cost effective and environmentally friendly way.

Beerflex Direct Delivery Scheme
The majority of BeerFlex’s volume is generated from Beerflex DDS (Direct Delivery Scheme). Founded in 2002, DDS now buys over 4,500 draught and bottled beers from around 450 participating SIBA brewers and sells them on to 12 national pub companies and off-trade retailers – companies with which, until the establishment of BeerFlex, brewers of local beers found it extremely difficult to trade.

The operation is very simple. BeerFlex DDS receives orders from a company or outlet direct via EDI, e-mail, telephone or via SIBA’s Online Order Portal and we distribute them on a daily basis to BeerFlex brewing members.

Breweries access their orders through their own unique ‘login’ via the SIBA Members’ Toolbox and deliver the required products direct to the outlet according to the SIBA Delivery Charter.

SIBA BeerFlex DDS reports centrally on all deliveries made and provides consolidated invoices to the customer Head Office, which will then produce any appropriate documentation for the individual outlet.

Here’s an example of some of the companies BeerFlex DDS works with:

Admiral Taverns
Brasserie Bar Co
Edinburgh Woollen Mills
Ei Group
Greene King Managed & Leased
Hawthorn Leisure
London Town Pub Management
Nisa Retail
Punch Taverns
Star Pubs & Bars
Trust Inns
WH Brakespear

Beerflex Export
The Export activity is relatively new to Beerflex. In addition to being a centre for advice, the Beerflex Team is keen to explore and investigate potential export markets on behalf of brewing members participating within the Beerflex Export Catalogue.

SIBA has had significant representation at craft beer events in numerous countries: Shanghai, Milan, Germany, Serbia, and Spain to name a few.

Beerflex Festival Service
The third sector of Beerflex distribution is specialising in beer festivals and guest beer programmes. Beerflex has the ability to consolidate and deliver ales from brewers nationally to any part of the UK.
In fact, whatever the mix of cask ales is required, Beerflex is sure to have a solution.

SIBA Food Safety and Quality Standard (SIBA FSQ) – SIBA Beerflex requires that new members joining the scheme are enrolled in the SIBA FSQ or an alternative scheme, such as SALSA, NSF, STS or BRC.
