Bolton brewery 'aled' for its success in historic Parliament book
A BOLTON brewery is the toast of Westminster after being featured in a new book about the history of Parliament.
Bank Top Brewery has been recognised as an industry champion in a new book about the history of Parliament — which celebrates 750 years of the famous institution.
Bank Top has quite a history with the home of British democracy and has previously seen its Flat Cap ale on the taps at the famous Stangers bar in the Palace of Westminster, with the help of Bolton North East MP David Crausby.
The brewery was contacted by the creators of the new book after winning the Champion Mild of Britain award at last year’s Great British Beer Festival.
Brewery owner David Sweeney and staff member Claire Kirkman joined more than 300 guests, including historians, politicians and senior public figures at the book launch in The Cloisters of Westminster Abbey.
Ms Kirkman said: “We initially got a call and then a letter from St James’s House, asking if we would like to be part of the celebrations of 750 years of Parliament — we were very honoured to be involved.
