Tryanuary is an independent January campaign set up to support breweries and pubs in the generally tough time after the festive season, encouraging consumers to try something different to the usual and share those experiences with their friends.
Here’s what Mike Benner SIBA’s Managing Director has to say about the initiative and why it is needed,
“Over the years, a number of charities have set up campaigns encouraging consumers to stop drinking alcohol in January – however it’s much better to drink in moderation all year round rather than binge over Christmas and then give up for January. What’s more, many of SIBA’s members raise money for charities throughout the year and believe January is an important time to support British pubs and breweries.”
SIBA want to show that it’s possible to raise money for worthy causes and support beer and pubs in January. Here are two ways you can get your brewery involved:
1. Brew a special ‘Tryanuary’ beer for charity
We are encouraging as many SIBA breweries as possible to brew a special ‘Tryanuary’ beer in January, with a proportion of the price going to your chosen charity.
2. Organise charity Tryanuary brewery tours
Selling tickets to visit your brewery in January is a great way to raise money for the worthy cause of your choice, whilst introducing new people to your beers and building your brand image. This could be done via your pub customers or your own website or social media.
If you are intending on getting involved in Tryanuary then please email SIBA PR & Marketing Manager Neil Walker on neil.walker@siba.co.uk as we will be looking to highlight examples in the trade media and SIBA’s social media throughout the January.
