Kammac plc ‘Keg & Cask’ Strengthens UK and Export
Kammac plc, a family owned and managed company, has run a highly successful manufacturing and production support business for the past twenty-five years. Its ‘Keg & Cask’ division is now ten year’s old and one of the world’s leading cask manufacturers, supplying large regional and micro-breweries throughout the UK, Europe and the United States. The Company has recently completed an exercise evaluating new ways of working and exploring the potential for developing manufacturing alliances, with a view to delivering the same high quality product in a sustainable and cost efficient manner.
Keg & Cask supplies high quality stainless steel Cask and Keg using 304 DDQ Stainless Steel with 304 quarter hardened chimes as standard. A flexible approach to manufacturing allows the client to have his own bespoke requirements, such as fully embossed top chimb, colour banded in clients own colours with serial numbers to assist asset control.
Roger Ryman, Brewing Director/Head Brewer, St Austell says:
‘’Over recent years St Austell Brewery have enjoyed significant growth in our cask ale business. We have worked closely with container rental companies to supply the casks to facilitate this growth, but following an in depth study our board made the decision to make a significant investment in our own container fleet in order that we may supply cask beer into national distribution using our own casks.
After careful consideration, Kammac (Keg & Cask) were selected to fulfil this order. We found that the Kammac cask was well constructed and compatible with our automated cask filling line. In addition, we have a Company policy, that where possible we support British industry and it is important to us that something as British as a container for cask beer is manufactured in the UK. Kammac were able to fulfil this substantial order within a few months, at a unit cost that is at least comparable with the foreign competition. We have been very happy with our Kammac casks and we have placed a smaller order – to sustain organic growth in our business, and replace container losses – with them again this year.’’
Ged Carabini, business development manager, Keg & Cask comments: “The fact that we have the ability to supply all sizes of Brewery, from micro to international, with no maximum or minimum order, tailor individual requirements at competitive prices, keeps us ahead of the competition. Our reputation has resulted in us having further opportunity to export worldwide – with particular interest from Europe, Canada and the USA.”
