New Brewer strengthens Dartmoor Brewing team
A former wine industry expert who swapped grapes for hops has joined Dartmoor Brewery to strengthen their brewing team and is en route to becoming the South West’s only Advanced Beer and Advanced Wine Sommelier.
Ian Cobham, a former Chef Sommelier, will work alongside Head Brewer, Mike Lunney, at the Princetown brewery, which is famous for its Jail Ale, Legend and Dartmoor IPA beers.
Ian’s experience as a Chef Sommelier for a major hotel group and previous role as a wine maker for chateaux in Burgundy, Bordeaux and the south of France brings a new skill set to this award winning brewery.
Dartmoor Brewery are supporting Ian through the final stages of his Advanced Beer Sommelier qualification and his studies for the Diploma in Brewing from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. “We were impressed with Ian’s dynamism and total enthusiasm for brewing. To meet increased demand we needed to expand our team and Ian’s background seemed a good fit for us as we look to develop new, interesting and innovative beers for our seasonal and speciality beer market.” commented Head Brewer, Mike Lunney.
Prior to joining Dartmoor Brewery, Ian was a brewer with Sharps in Cornwall.
Dartmoor Brewery is the highest brewery in England and every year produces more than 2.5 million pints of award winning real ales, using traditional brewing techniques and local ingredients. Dartmoor Brewery is now Devon’s second largest brewery.
