Dartmoor Brewery appoints former Diageo executive as its new managing director

Dartmoor Brewery has appointed drinks industry expert, Tim Hobbs, as managing director to spearhead further growth at the craft brewery based in the heart of Dartmoor National Park.
Drinks industry sales and marketing specialist, Tim Hobbs, who has held senior board roles at Diageo, William Grant International and was responsible for launching Ireland’s most popular cider brand, Magners, will head up Dartmoor Brewery and focus on improving the availability of Jail Ale and the rest of the Dartmoor Brewery portfolio regionally and nationally.
Speaking about his new role, the drinks industry veteran said:
“Joining Dartmoor Brewery wasn’t a tough decision; the Brewery is a successful business, with an intriguing proposition – it’s got unique products with wonderful provenance, strong brands and a passionate consumer following. All the elements are there and in place for growth, and that’s very exciting.”
Tim will lend his sales and marketing expertise to build Dartmoor Brewery’s sales, he continued: “Dartmoor Brewery has an awesome head brewer who produces exceptional beers which really do stand out in this competitive market place, I see my role as improving the availability of these really special beers.
“Working with the team we’ll deliver a strategy to grow Dartmoor Brewery’s penetration in the South West before we look to develop other markets such as London. At the core of this strategy is a strong relationship with licensees and ensuring our beers are readily available to them; Dartmoor Brewery will continue to commit to direct sales where they are commercially viable and our beers will also be available via our wholesaler partnerships.”
Tim joins Dartmoor Brewery from West Country based Sandford Orchards where he spent three years in a consultancy role, assisting the fledging cider company develop their routes to market.
Commenting on Tim’s appointment, Dartmoor Brewery chairman, Philip Davies said: “We consider it a real coup for the Brewery that Tim has joined us. His CV reads like a who’s who of the drinks industry, he has exceptional sales skills, in-depth business analysis expertise and extensive knowledge of the national and global drinks industry.
