It’s Better Down the Pub – support needed for ‘mass tweet’
SIBA was one of the original industry supporters of It’s Better Down the Pub; the inspiration for the video at the heart of the campaign was our ‘Proud of British Beer’ film and I know many members have already engaged with it on social media and donated competition prizes, for which our thanks.
We have offered to help It’s Better Down the Pub with a drive to increase its Twitter following, which is linked to the campaign’s next competition around sport in pubs. The aim is to create a ‘mass tweet’ to coincide with the start of Champions’ League group matches next Tuesday, 17 September.
The ambition is to hit 3 million tweets with the help of ‘Thunderclap’, a new website that allows people and companies to tweet or Facebook a message all at the same time on the same day. It’s effectively an online version of a flash mob.

Note that by signing up to Thunderclap you are not giving them access to your Twitter database, just a ‘one off’ permission to get Twitter to Tweet the same message to the followers of everyone who signs up. If successful, this mass tweet will provide a massive boost to It’s Better Down the Pub. It is in all our interests to make this campaign a success, so let’s all get behind this drive and remind people that live sport, like great beer, is ‘better down the pub’.
