Award-winning brewery celebrates football club’s FA Cup success
Yattendon-based brewery congratulates the Royals on their quarter-final triumph with dual-branded limited edition pump-clip
The multi-award winning bitter, Good Old Boy – brewed by the West Berkshire Brewery (WBB) and the official beer of Reading FC – has launched a new limited-edition pump-clip replete with the club badge and shirt colours, to celebrate the team’s recent FA Cup quarter-final triumph, and ensuing trip to Wembley.
In support of the Royals’ recent victories, the limited edition pump-clip will be used in various outlets across the Reading and Berkshire area. The Good Old Boy bar at the Madejski Stadium will also be utilising the dual-branded clip, ahead of the club’s next cup match, against Arsenal at Wembley.
After their 3-0 win against Bradford City, the club is now looking ahead to the upcoming semi-final game on Saturday 18 April. As this will be the first time the club have played in an FA Cup semi-final game for 88 years, WBB felt that the best way for them to commemorate the achievement would be through the brewery’s much-loved flagship ale.
Vicky Mills, Marketing Director for WBB, said: “We wanted to say congratulations to Reading FC and thought that this would be a fitting tribute. It’s an extremely exciting time for the Royals, and we hope that a pint of Good Old Boy will help them get all the way to the final!”
Adam Benson, Commercial Director at Reading FC, said: “We are delighted to join forces with West Berkshire Brewery as they honour our FA Cup semi-final with a celebratory beer and help us to mark such a historic occasion for the Royals.”
The Yattendon-based brewery have also confirmed that should the football club progress further into the competition, there’s potential for WBB to create a Good Old Boy – Reading FC branded bottle, in addition to the pump-clip.
