SIBA Response to Lib Dem Election Manifesto 2017

The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) has responded to the publishing of the Liberal Democrat Election Manifesto, which highlights the importance of pubs to local communities and pledges the need for a review into small business rates.

“It is heartening to see the Lib Dem Manifesto highlighting the importance of pubs to rural communities and recognising the need for a review of Business Rates, particularly with a view to lessening the burden on small businesses such as pubs.

SIBA would also like to see all parties commit to a lower rate of duty for draught beer and at least a freeze on all beer duty during the next parliament – which we believe would help further drive people back into British pubs, the home of responsible drinking.”
