SIBA announces new Head of Public Affairs

The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) has appointed Barry Watts as its new Head of Public Affairs and Policy.

Barry joins SIBA from the Royal Economic Society and brings to the role significant public affairs and communications experience having worked in Parliament and financial regulation. He also ran his own brewing company.

Welcoming Barry’s appointment, James Calder, Chief Executive of SIBA said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Barry to the SIBA team. His knowledge of engagement, communications, stakeholder management and the brewing industry means he’ll be an invaluable asset to SIBA, and he will hit the ground running.”

Barry Watts, SIBA’s new Head of Public Affairs and Policy said:

“I know how hard the SIBA team works to represent and support the craft brewing sector and I look forward to getting started.

“My first priority is to meet SIBA members across the country and hear their thoughts on the important issues facing the industry – from the review of small brewers relief to the introduction of a deposit return scheme – so we can continue to make the strongest case for independent craft beer to government.”
