Production Brewer/Brewery Assistant

BrewBoard is a growing independent brewery located close to Cambridge, and we are looking to hire a Brewer/Assistant Brewer to join our small but motivated production team. This role will involve working closely with the Head Brewer to ensure the production of wort, monitoring its fermentation, and the cellaring and packaging of the finished product. Ensuring the finished product meets our high standards.
The Brewer will be involved in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the overall brewery and brew equipment.
A thorough understanding of all aspects of the brewing process, techniques and equipment is required.
Full Time
Duties and Responsibilities:
Day to day beer maintenance; fermentation checks, dry hopping, yeast and hop flushes.
Wort production. Assisting throughout the brew day.
Conditioning beer, carbonation checks, taste and smell checks for finished beer.
Packaging of finished beer: Kegging into steel/plastic kegs and canning using our five head canning line.
Record keeping on physical brew-sheets and on the Breww management software.
Working closely with Head Brewer, and other members of our small team.
Able to utilize IT systems: To book in and process web/trade orders, able to use the brewery management software BREWW.
Opportunity to design new beers solo or in tandem with the Head Brewer, whilst also making improvements to our existing recipes.
Requirements:
- At least a year’s brewing experience.
- Able to work in a hygienic manner.
- IBD General Certificate in Brewing, Brewing MSc, Food Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent is desired but not essential.
- Physically fit, being able to lift 40kg kegs is an essential part of the role.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner, as per Health and Safety Regulations.
- Experience working with forklifts is desirable.
- Motivated and enthusiastic, keen to work closely in a small team.
- Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
- A UK driving license is required.
- A passion for the product and drive to constantly improve.
